Harry Potter and the Rare Prequel
As reported by The Associated Press, Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling wrote an 800-word prequel to her popular series about the boy wizard. The prequel is hand written on both sides of an A5 sized card (slightly bigger than a post card) and will be auctioned off for charity by Waterstone's Booksellers Ltd. in London. Waterson's said that they distributed 13 of the A5 cards to people including Rowling, playwright Tom Stoppard, graphic novelist and author Neil Gaiman, and Sebastian Faulks, whose Bond novel The Devil May Care was released last week.

I haven't read The Devil May Care yet, but I don't have any intention of doing so either. In fact, I haven't read any of the Bond novels that were not penned by Flemming. As I said with Sean Connery playing Bond, Fleming is the creator of Bond and should be the only one to have written about him. And for Sebastian Faulks to put on the jacket "writing as Ian Fleming" is pretty arrogant I think.
I think it's great that those writers are making such a nice contribution for auction.

Spy --- I can see that you're a purist, and that's fine. I'm kind of the same way when it comes to certain things. For example, a lot of the cartoons I watched as a kid (Masters of the Universe, G.I. Joe, Tranformers, etc.) are being remade and redone and I for one think that they are not as good as the original versions.
Adam --- Yeah, it's nice to see writers do that. If I had the money, I'd travel to London to bid on one of those items.
I don't know. I didn't think Devil was too bad. Grant it, it's certainly NOT Ian Fleming.
My kids grew up on those cartoons too. I personally thought they were great. It seems like a lot of the cartoons today are dumbed down to the point that it insults the viewer's intelligence.
I totally agree with you Dave. Those old cartoons were great. I feel bad for kids today. They don't know what they're missing out on. Although, I have found a few good cartoons today, but still...
